Although getting a bit up in years especially in the lower levels of refinement, the new 2017 Nissan GT-R still holds plenty of appeal, and easy-to-drive nature. Its appeal is however manifested through its stupefying acceleration, and top handling limits. Its date of release should be expected sometime in February 2017.
You won’t find any other vehicle in the segment that embodies the concept of maximizing bang for your buck more than the GT-R. This is especially true if you are viewing it in terms of supercar performance. It has continued to offer distinguished leadership whether on the track or during normal highway cruising ever since it debuted seven years ago.
Back then, all it could cost you was 70,000 USD but with the continued upgrades and improvements over the years, you’ll have to part away with a six-figure today. Despite the refreshments, the GT-R has continued to be Nissan’s impressive beast. Its V6-turbocharged engine now makes in excess of 550 horsepower and comes with plenty of computer controlled systems that ensure a stellar performance.
At the pinnacle of the trim lineup is the 600-hp-generating Nismo juggernaut model. It comes with Recaro front bucket seats, a different suspension system, and carbon-fiber aero work that work synonymously to lay waste to all possible challengers.
Sadly, the GT-R model has several drawbacks relative to what the competition offers. Some of them include a clunky around-town transmission behavior; a sky-high price for the Nismo model; doesn’t evoke passion as some of its rivals; and has an intrusive road noise.
Well, the faulty list may seem long but we still love how the GT-R dominates the racetrack. Otherwise, there are plenty of rivals on offer including the 2017 Dodge Viper, the 2017 Corvette Z06, the 2017 Acura NSX, and the 2017 Jaguar F-Type R Coupe.

The high-performance 2017 Nissan GT-R coupe is available with a 2 + 2 seating configuration. Three trims are available: Premium, Black Edition, and the Nismo trim model. The R36 Hybrid is covered in a separate review.

The Black Edition adds red and black interior stitching, Recaro leather front sport seats, lightweight black alloy wheels, and a carbon-fiber rear spoiler.
At the pinnacle of the GT-R lineup is the Nismo model that offers a titanium exhaust system, distinctive interior trim, body reinforcements, a more powerful engine, and a firmer suspension tuning.

Engine Nismo Specs – 2017Nissan GT-R
Producing about 550 hp and 463 lbs. ft. of torque is a turbocharged 3.8L V6 engine that comes equipped under the hood of the 2017 Nissan GT-R. The advanced all-wheel-drive system transmits this power to the wheels via the six-speed automated manual transmission system.
The performance-themed GT-R Nismo gets an upgraded version of the same engine that cranks out about 600 horsepower and 481 lbs. ft. of torque.
Performance is nothing less than jaw-dropping with the utilization of the built-in launch control. It will only take you about 3.2 seconds to get past 60 mph with the GT-R Nismo. Preliminary estimations put its top speed at 200 mph.
The impressive values don’t stop there as the GT-R still posts respectable fuel economy ratings of 22/16/19 mpg on the highway/city/combined.
