You’d expect that most people who shell out their hard-earned cash for a brand-new Chevrolet Corvette would be eager to drive it. Not so much for one owner in Montana, who has accumulated just 57 miles (92 kilometres) since buying his 2003 Chevy Corvette. Now the car could be yours, as it’s up for auction on eBay.
It’s not clear why the current owner made so little use of his 50th Anniversary Edition Corvette, though the eBay listing notes that the car hasn’t been totally neglected. The owner claims to have drained and refilled the fuel tank three times since 2003 to keep the gas fresh, and says he drives the car every four to six months. But with its odometer showing an average of below 5 miles (8 km) per year, this Corvette clearly hasn’t moved much farther than the end of the driveway.
On the other hand, for a dedicated collector, this Corvette is in impressive shape. It still has all the factory-delivered plastic wrap on its interior, and comes with the window sticker, build sheet, and DVD originally provided to the owner. As part of the 50th Anniversary Edition goodies, the car is optioned with unique Anniversary Red Metallic paint, the F55 Magnetic Selective Ride suspension, and features like a head-up display. The 5.7-litre V8 engine, rated for 350 horsepower, couples to a six-speed manual transmission.
